Engineers tend to earn more than average and can be a rewarding experience for people who like solving problems and getting through challenges.
You Are Analytical
Do you often wonder how things work and how things interact with each other? Maybe you find yourself digging through statistical charts, numbers, and data trying to figure out why things are the way they are.
Engineers tend to have a more left-brain dominant and have a very active and curious mind about the world around them. If you are mostly known to tinker with computers, opening stuff up, or just breaking things down in order to understand the components of how things work, it’s a good sign you are suited to becoming an engineer.
You Can Handle Pressure
Working as an engineer is not easy. There are different types of engineers and different fields of engineering, but they all have something in common, which is work stress and being under pressure.
Sometimes you will find yourself working 80 hours per week trying to meet a deadline or a project or you may have to spend a whole day at the office trying to find a solution to a problem that might be causing a delay in construction related matters, but there is one thing common among great engineers, they are still able to think clearly under the pressure and the heat of the moment.
You Are Workaholic
Being a workaholic does not necessarily mean you don’t have a life outside work, but in order to become an engineer you do need a good work ethic and in a way, derive pleasure from working.
Engineers tend to work longer hours not because they are required to, but because they want to and have a desire to accomplish something.
You Have An Active Imagination
People who actually can visualize objects and components working together do make great engineers. While engineering does require a lot of analytical and logic skills, there is a great need for creativity, imagination, and design. Otherwise, the world would not have products such as the iPhone, iPod, Tesla, etc.
Engineers are not only required to look at numbers, facts, statistics, and data, but also figure out new ways of doing things and creating new theories.
You Are Rebellious
Have you always rooted for the underdog or perhaps had a disdain for people who told you can’t do something and always tried to prove them wrong? It is a good sign that you are suited to becoming an engineer. Engineers thrive on challenge and proving other people wrong.
New inventions and discoveries were made by people who made their own path and went their way.
